Introduction

Einführung

Auxiliary and modal verbs - also called helper verbs - are combined with the present or past participles of other verbs to provide them further meaning. This can add emphasis, passivity, or create a progressive or perfect aspect.

They often have highly irregular and unpredictable conjugations. However, because they are used so frequently, their conjugations are especially important to master.
